A Word from our President

Dear Fellow Consumer:

Growing up in the small town of Morrill, Maine--where the population was outnumbered by dairy cows and farms--I had the ability to fine tune an appreciation for the fields and mountains of our 525 acre family farm.  As young boys, my brother and I, working the farm in tandem with parents who had full-time jobs, learned the value of hard, honest work and family.  Growing up on a Maine farm allowed me to explore, uncover, and appreciate our natural environment.

Today, a few years older and hopefully many years wiser, I hold true to the roots that taught me about the wonderful gifts nature and our New England lifestyle have to offer us.  Skiing the mountains of Western Maine, kayaking pristine rivers, hiking Mt. Washington, and swimming many waters of our mountains and coast are experiences I have had the luxury of sharing with family and friends.  We are fortunate to enjoy our freedom, our families, and these simple while this world continues to invent technology that changes in a blink. 

I started Corcoran Environmental Services, Inc. as a quest to make a difference to the environment.  Recycling and conservation are my deepest passion, and I am fortunate to have found a way to make a living doing what I love.  A long-time friend once responded as I complained about the lack of recycling:  “Patrick, if you stop today doing what you do, you will have done more for the environment in your life than 200 of your closest friends.”  I often remember that compliment, and those words sometimes allow me to sleep at night.  I know that my passion in life allows me to not only earn a living for my family, but to also do my part.  Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes an individual to change a philosophy.  I have been blessed with staff and other amazing people who allow me to do my job daily.  Our customers, savvy enough to know that price alone is not the determining factor of an effective recycling program, continue to utilize my knowledge of the recycling commodities markets.  While challenging at times, I find my ability to educate and assist incredibly rewarding.  Otherwise, I would have given up this quest when times were toughest.
